The entire world is in a hurry. Life’s running so fast that it’s running short of breath. In order to sustain its importance in this huffing and panting life, art too has begun to take new forms everyday. Poetry too, in the form of shorts, reels and social media posts, is trying to keep pace in this race. Truth be told, such haste doesn’t suit an art form, least of all, poetry.

Itr – Every Word a Fragrance is a humble attempt at poetry’s refusal to make itself a part of this race. Vishal Bagh’s poetry and the stories behind it promise to be a new experience for their listeners. To put it simply, in bringing you face to face with love, with yourself and with God, you wouldn’t even realise how this show gives you an hour’s break from your rushed life. _Itr – Every word a fragrance is a reminder to those both reciting and listening to poems that poetry hasn’t yet been reduced to being ‘content’ but it’s still very much an art form.

Directed by Vaidehi Sancheti and designed passionately by Kshitij Kulkarni, is brought to you by Theatre India Company. Prerna Jakatadar’s moderation and Nikhil Athawale’s flute make this show a moving, personal experience.
