This month, Books, Chai & More, the Raah Book Club, will be discussing the book Seven Beauties by Lina Wertmüller. Prior to the discussion we will watch the Film based on the book.

Lina Wertmüller was the first woman to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Director for this film that she also wrote. Set in fascist Italy, Seven Beauties stars Giancarlo Giannini as Pasqualino, a petty thief who lives off his seven sisters while claiming to protect their honor. But when he is arrested for murder, fate leads him to a mental hospital, to war, and finally to a concentration camp.

The book discussion will be led by Sameer Joshi, an artist & a poet. He is a Professor of English with the University of Maryland, US.
